ISHPEMING — Neighbors helping neighbors — that’s what Project Feed A Neighbor is all about.

After handing out collection bags last week, volunteers will be out and about Saturday to collect those bags filled with food.
Project Feed A Neighbor is asking for non–perishable food items, like canned vegetables and fruits, rice, pasta, soups, and more.

All you have to do is leave the pink plastic bags filled up on your doorstep and volunteers will pickup the bags.

“In Ishpeming, Negaunee, Republic and these surrounding areas, people are very, very generous,” said project coordinator Richard Derby. “They recognize that their neighbor, the guy next door, may be the one that’s having some economic difficulty, is temporarily laid off or has had some economic stress and needs some help. People always respond so well to that.”

All of the food collected on Saturday between 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. will be divided up between local food banks and other organizations.
