U of M receives grant to help study algal blooms in the Great Lakes

WASHINGTON — Researchers at the University of Michigan will receive a federal grant of $653,097 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to develop tools to predict water quality and forecast harmful algal blooms (HABS) in the Great Lakes, U.S. Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow announced Tuesday.

DNR awarded grant to help fight white-nose syndrome in bats

LANSING — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced Friday that it has been awarded a grant of $52,500 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for work on white-nose syndrome, a disease caused by an invasive fungus that only afflicts bats.
