MARQUETTE — A ruling in Marquette County Circuit Court this afternoon requires a local businessman to destroy all of the Russian Boars that are currently on his property.
According to Michigan DNR Public Information Officer Ed Golder, Judge Thomas Solka ordered Greg Johnson, owner of Bear Mountain LLC in Negaunee, to destroy all of the swine by October 1st.
The decision made by Solka was part of an ongoing legal battle between Johnson and the DNR over the last six years.
Here in Michigan, it’s illegal to possess the boars under the state’s Invasive Species Law, which was enacted in 2011.
Johnson owns and runs Bear Mountain, where people can hunt Russian Boars.
