Ely Township House Fire Burns Twice
A fire that destroyed an Ely Township home flares back up, bringing fire crews back for much of the morning.
The blaze first broke out shortly before 10:30 last night at 261 County Road CL.
That road is also known as Gold Mine Lake Road.
No one was home when it started.
The flames were already through the roof when Ishpeming Township firefighters got there.
The blaze proved very stubborn, keeping crews at the scene until 3:30 this morning.
Some lingering hot spots lit back up an hour and a half later.
That brought firefighters back out, and they needed to stay 2 more hours to put them out, too.
No one was hurt, but the house is a total loss.
The cause of the fire, and the point in the house where it started, are still under investigation.
The Pigs & Heat Relief Fund is helping out the woman who lived there.
