Three vehicle accident in Rockland Township

One man was hospitalized after a pickup truck struck two snowmobiles in Rockland Township Monday night.
48-year-old David Fisher of Naushua, Iowa was taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital before being airlifted to Marquette General Hospital where family members say he underwent surgery and remains in intensive care.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened just after 9:30 p.m. when a pickup truck traveling north on US-45 near M-26 failed to negotiate a curve. Police say the driver, Larry Ford, 75 of Ontonagon, was blinded by a light, which he thought was an oncoming vehicle in his lane. Ford’s vehicle then struck two snowmobiles waiting to cross the highway on Trail #3. The snowmobiles were driven by Fisher and 40-year-old Jeremy Behun of Monroe, Iowa. Behun was able to jump from his snowmobile before the collision.
Police say Ford’s pickup and Behun’s snowmobile received minor damage. Fisher’s snowmobile received extensive damage. All of the vehicles were removed from the scene by Big Valley Ford.

Two snowmobiles and a pickup truck were involved in an accident in Rockland Township Monday night.

Ford’s vehicle then struck two snowmobiles waiting to cross the highway on Trail #3. The snowmobiles were driven by David Fisher, 48 of Naushua, Iowa, and Jeremy Behun, 40 of Monroe, Iowa. Both snowmobile drivers jumped off of their machines to avoid being hit.
Police say Ford’s pickup and Behun’s snowmobile received minor damage. Fisher’s snowmobile received extensive damage. All of the vehicles were removed from the scene by Big Valley Ford.
No one was injured in the accident, and alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
