Help UPAWS win fundraising contest
The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is asking for help in an online fundraising contest.
UPAWS is competing in the Winter 2013 Shelter Challenge.
Right now, UPAWS is first place in Michigan, but a shelter in Ann Arbor is a close second. The top online vote–getter in Michigan will win $1,000 in grant money, and even more if it’s the top shelter in the nation.
“All you have to do is…folks can just ‘click’ and vote for us every day on their computer or smartphone or their tablet,” UPAWS Board Vice President Ann Brownell said. “And every single day you vote we just move up the ladder in the nation.”
All funds go to the animals at the shelter. In the Summer Shelter Challenge, UPAWS came in fourth in the nation and won 25 pet beds.
The shelter is thankful for the strong support of the community.
“All the money goes to helping our shelter pets find loving homes. That is our goal, we’re a no-kill shelter, we have a 100% save rate and we’re very proud of that,” Brownell said. “That’s because of our wonderful community supporting us so vote, vote, vote.”
To vote for UPAWS, visit their website, Facebook page, or Shelter Challenge website. Voting ends December 22.
