Remains found of woman missing since February
The remains of an Upper Peninsula woman missing since February were found in Escanaba.
The Escanaba Department of Public Safety says a person found the body of Jean Lawrence in an industrial area along the shores of Little Bay de Noc Wednesday.
The area where Lawrence’s body was found was cordoned off to conduct an investigation. The Michigan State Police Crime Lab and a Delta County Medical Examiner Investigator were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
An autopsy was conducted at OSF St. Francis Hospital Thursday. Preliminary findings show the cause of death to be from exposure.
Lawrence was reported missing February 6.
The Delta County, Menominee County, Marquette County Sheriff’s Departments, the Marquette City Police Department, Michigan State Police, Negaunee City Police Department, NMU Public Safety Sheriff’s Department, and Forsyth Township Police Department assisted in the investigation and efforts in trying to locate Lawrence.
