Trial continues in Keweenaw Co.
The trial continued Thursday for a second day in Keweenaw County for a man accused of fleeing a car accident that killed a passenger.
In Novermber 2011, 39–year–old David Simons of Calumet was driving in Allouez Township when he crashed on 5 Mile Point Road. 53–year–old Jeffrey Brusso was killed in the accident.
Simons fled the scene and was later arrested at his mother’s home. Police say Simons was drunk at the time of the accident.
Simons is charged with three 15 year felonies: Operating a Vehicle Causing Death, Failure to Stop After an Accident Causing Death, and Driving While License is Suspended or Revoked During an Accident Causing Death.
The trial is expected to resume Friday morning.
