Man Falls To His Death At Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
MUNISING, Mich – A tragedy occurred at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore over the weekend.
21–year–old Domininc Rotondi of Lincoln Park fell from a cliff in the Miners Castle area at around 7 pm Saturday night.
Rotondi was found in the water below and pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses said Rotondi was at the upper viewing platform with friends when he stepped over a fence and lost his footing.
He fell nearly 100 feet.
His body was transported to UP Health System Marquette.
Blunt trauma from the fall is believed to be the main cause of death.
National Park Service rangers and the Alger County Sheriff Department assisted at the scene.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
