Marquette had a soft movie premiere last night at the Federation of Women’s Clubhouse. The Michigan film “Ring of Silence” is playing a large role in awareness and education in regards to human trafficking.

The film is the result of collaboration between “Five Greater Flint Women” from the Genesee County Human Trafficking Task Force members: Rosa Wang, Patti Higgins, Sue Lauber and Kim Gray.

Executive Director, Claudnyse D. Holloman, stated “We have to inform our kids that most of the human trafficking cases we see start online, and the movie shows how this type of relationship begins,” states Holloman. “We have to start educating kids about appropriate online dating. Teenagers are engaged in these online relationships and their parents have no idea what is going on. We have to start talking to them because if we don’t reach them, the traffickers will.”
