The re-opening of the state also means the return of the Mackinac Bridge Walk.

Members of the Mackinac Bridge Authority Board announced today that the annual event will return this Labor Day.

The walk was cancelled last year due to COVID–19, but in years past has had between 25 and 30 thousand attendees.

In a recent press release, Greater Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce (GMCCC) Administrator Kelly Vieau shared the excitement, saying, ” “The GMCCC is excited for the return of the Annual Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk! For more than 60 years it has been a holiday tradition for many people, young and old. ”

Walkers have three options when crossing. They may either walk the full length of the bridge and find transportation back over, walk halfway and turn around, or walk the entirety of the bridge both ways.
