City Commission introducing new repurposing plan

The Marquette City Commission is asking residents to weigh in on a potential change to the savings bank building.

The Commission will hold a public hearing next Monday at 6 p.m.

Houghton developers want to repurpose the Marquette saving bank building on South Front Street and adjoining property into a hotel.

The plan would include public parking, maker and commercial space, and an apartment building.

A virtual meeting of the local development finance authority will be held tomorrow at 4 p.m. on the city’s YouTube channel.
