Ishpeming’s Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum is Open for Tours

After the yearlong covid-19 shutdown, the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum opened for tours this Memorial Day Weekend. Shafts, carts, tunnels, and artifacts are peppered underground from the U.P.s the great mining era

Above ground People take in the massive rock collection and can view over 500 mineral displays provided by Ishpeming’s Rock and Mineral Club. However, if visitors decide to venture through the tunnels of mining memorabilia the guides recommend long sleeves and closed toe shoes as it’s damp and chilly

All of the mining memorabilia and the vast knowledge of the staff that is committed to preserving the local mining history are precise and unique.
