ISLE ROYALE — Isle Royale National Park has gained some new residents.

Isle Royale National Park has announced wolf pups have been born on the island. Judging by remote camera footage, the pups were likely born between 2019 and this year.

The national park introduced several wolves in 2018 and 2019, to reestablish the wolf population.

While the exact number of new pups on the island is unknown, it’s a step in the right direction to repopulating wolves in the park.

Their numbers dwindled to 2 individuals by 2018.

19 wolves were released on the island between 2018 and 2019, and 14 are still alive.
