UP organizations show appreciation for Norlite staff

MARQUETTE — Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette has been hit hard by the COVID–19 pandemic, but their frontline staff’s work hasn’t gone unnoticed.

In an effort to show appreciation, U.P. Building Trades and the Upper Peninsula Construction Council are teaming up to feed the workers at the Norlite Nursing Home. The lasagna, salad, and bread come courtesy of The Pasta Shop in Marquette.

“People in the community support everything that they’re doing,” said Ryan Stern, the U.P Representative for the Michigan Building Trade Council. “Even though most of it is behind closed doors, we understand the work and how taxing it is on themselves mentally, their families, home life, even the ones that have not been sick or had anything. We can’t even imagine what they’re going through. We just wanted to give something back to them.”

This will take place on May.14th at 11:30 a.m. The trade council hopes to do this again in the future for other frontline workers.
