Marquette Makers’ Project launches #MakeAnyway to keep the community creating

MARQUETTE COUNTY — Local arts advocacy group Marquette Makers’ Project has started an initiative to keep the community together through creativity.

#MakeAnyway is designed to inspire everyone to be creative at least once each day. Every day of the week has a different theme or activity, ensuring there’s something for everybody.

This time of isolation can be hard on those who are used to getting out for work or a certain activity. #MakeAnyway can help them to keep their minds and bodies active.

“This calendar kind of inspires people to make with what they have,” said Taylor Sirard of Marquette Makers’ Project. “You don’t need to paint a big painting or write this novel or push yourself too hard. But if you can dance a little bit for Movement Monday or make with repurposed materials on Thrifty Thursday, maybe you can find a little joy and a little relief and a little vehicle to process some of what we’re going through right now in a creative way.”

By using #MakeAnyway on social media, anyone can share their creations with the community and the Marquette Makers’ Project.

Anyone creating in Marquette is encouraged to use #MakeAnywayMQT as well.

The Marquette Makers’ Project believes creativity is an essential part of life, and they’re excited to see everyone’s ideas based on the daily prompts.

“It’s an absolute treat to get to put in that hashtag and to see what everybody has been making and to see the creativity that comes out of this,” said Sirard. “A lot of it is totally unexpected and just a joy to see and share and know that a lot of other people in our community are still creating. It’s an essential part of human life and experience and I think it’s important that we show that.”
