Alger County resident arrested for multiple drug and gun charges

CHRISTMAS — On Saturday, February 22nd, Troopers from the Negaunee Post initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper lane driving on M-28 near Christmas, MI. The driver, a 28 year old Alger County resident, showed several signs of being under the influence of an intoxicating substance.  After a roadside investigation was completed, the driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs.

A search of the suspect vehicle yielded 97 grams of crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale, a scale, other drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of cash.  Troopers also located multiple firearms and ammunition in the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and lodged at the Alger County Jail for initial charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs, Carrying Concealed Weapons, Felon in Possession of Firearms, and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver. This case remains under investigation.

The suspect’s name is being withheld at this time pending arraignment.
