OAUP hosts annual meeting and celebrate businesses in the U.P.

MARQUETTE — The Operation Action U.P. is the only privately-funded economic development organization in the state, which embraces all types of industries and serves a 15 county area.

Every year the group hosts an annual meeting that help recognize businesses that are enhancing economic vitality of the U.P. and improving employment and productivity trends. The meeting is also a great way for businesses to come together and network between each other.

“There is a lot of different things happening throughout the U.P.,” explained Rich Tegge, the President of Wealth Strategy and an OAUP Officer. “It’s happening in different markets like Iron Mountain, Escanaba, Marquette, Houghton and the Sault. This event actually brings all of those together.”

Tegge explained further, “This is an opportunity for businesses owners and the businesses across the U.P. to convene and have a chance to get together and get caught up on things throughout the Upper Peninsula.”

The 2019 OAUP Awards of Excellence were given out to four different businesses including: Advanced Center for Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery, Bacco Construction Company, Hurley Marine Inc. and Trenary Home Bakery. The UPEDA nonprofit award winner who received special recognition at the event was the Marquette Alger CTE Committee.
