Matthew Goss announces official run for the 109th District seat

MARQUETTE — Matthew Goss, a retired veteran, has announced he is officially running for office in the 109th district as a Republican. He was introduced by 110th District, House Representative Greg Markkanen, who is also a Republican. Goss says he is ready for the opportunity to try something new and he is excited to be running for the 109th District seat.

“This is the first time I’ve been in a position myself where I have to put my name out there and get people to vote for me,” said Matthew Goss. “So it is exciting. I am meeting a lot of great people; I am doing a lot of really awesome events working with Veterans and with different groups around the district. I mean it has just been great.”

Goss was in the National Guard for six years which then lead him to working with the Department of State and Federal Law enforcement. Due to injuries sustained serving his country; he chose to try and serve his country and state in a different way.

“I am prior military and I work for the government,” explained Goss. “In different roles I worked federal and civilian law enforcement. I have always wanted to serve my country anyway that I possibly can. At this point in my life, I think this is the best way I can continue to serve my country.”

Matthew Goss hopes with his prior military and government background, that he will be able to get people the information they need to make the best choices on issues.

“One of my jobs has always been to get information, both up the flag pole and down the flag pole,” said Goss. “I have always been good with that. I want to be a conduit for information to the constituents of the 109th District. I want them to always know everything that I know about the issues that are going on. This is so that they can make educated decisions on these issues, when it comes time to vote on these issues.”

The 109th District seat is currently held by House Representative Sara Cambensy, who is a part of the Democratic Party in Michigan. The next election is on November 3, 2020.
