Getz’s Clothiers co-hosting food drive on January 9 for Spread Goodness Day

MARQUETTE — The nonprofit fundraising initiative Spread Goodness Day is partnering with Getz’s in Marquette for 2020, and they’re kicking off the year with a food drive on Thursday, January 9.

Founded by Anna Dravland, the official Spread Goodness Day will take place on March 13. The food drive, co-hosted by Getz’s, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Ore Dock Brewing Company. Donations can also be dropped off at Getz’s between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Food donations collected will be given to the Marquette St. Vincent De Paul and Salvation Army food pantries.

Getz’s staff is looking forward to being part of Spread Goodness Day’s third annual event.

“Anna’s vision and her passion for spreading goodness are explosive,” said Hanna Johnson of Getz’s marketing department. “We are really excited to be a partner with her and to make her vision come true. Getz’s is proud to represent this organization by providing Anna’s Spread Goodness Day apparel here in the store, and we also have it online at Getzs.com. A large part of the proceeds of the sales from Spread Goodness Day apparel actually go directly back to Anna so she can keep spreading goodness.”

The slogan this year is, “Making the future so bright, you’re gonna need shades!” Funds brought in from sales of the Spread Goodness Day apparel will go toward the Shades for Schools program. This will provide recyclable sunglasses to classrooms across the country that are participating in community events on March 13.

Anyone who contributes to Thursday’s food drive will also receive either a pair of sunglasses or a Spread Goodness Day sticker. To learn more about Spread Goodness Day and to hear Anna Dravland’s story, you can visit the official Spread Goodness Day website or Facebook page.
