NEGAUNEE — This weekend, a unique opportunity to support local businesses while celebrating the holiday season will take place.

Tinseltown is returning to Negaunee, and like one business owner explains, it’s all part of revamping the downtown atmosphere, and improving the town as a whole.

“It definitely helps to have businesses being revitalized downtown,” said Marybeth Kurtz, owner of Midtown Bakery & Cafe. “I think it helps to remind people that there’s viable businesses down here in historic downtown Negaunee. Things are changing, things are changing for the better. People drive through town and see a lot of closed-up buildings, but there’s four more buildings that are on a façade grant, so that’ll be six buildings on one block that will have had façade grants by the end of next fall.”

Tinseltown kicks off at 4 pm, with a holiday parade at 6.

No holiday event would be complete without Santa, who will be available for kids to take pictures with.

Christmas carols, live music, raffles, giveaways and more leaves a little something for everyone to enjoy.
