UPAWS helps pets find homes for the holidays with two events this weekend

GWINN — The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is getting ready for two big events this weekend.

The BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters Holiday Hope Event will take place on Friday, December 13, and Saturday the 14. The cost to adopt all pets on those days will be reduced to $25 for customers, with BISSELL paying for the rest.

On Saturday, UPAWS will also be hosting a Holiday Open House from noon until 4:00 p.m. In addition to the $25 pet adoptions, the open house will also feature free food and drinks, holiday gifts for adopted pets, as well as 25% off of retail purchases at the shelter.

“Come on out and see all the great animals we have,” said Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator Ann Brownell. “Of course we have dogs and cats, but we also have birds, we have bunny rabbits, guinea pigs, and we even have a little turtle. So you can find anything for $25. We hope that you come out for our Home for the Holidays event!”

These events are a great opportunity for animals to find a home just in time for the holidays at a low cost to the community. UPAWS Board Members will be in attendance during the Holiday Open House to give tours of the shelter and to answer any questions.
