Northern Vegans to host Free The Animals Spectacular Vegan Carnival this weekend

MARQUETTE — This weekend a local vegan organization is holding a special, animal–free carnival at the Community Room in the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

The Northern Vegans’ first ever Free The Animals Spectacular Vegan Carnival will take place on Saturday, October 26, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The carnival will feature almost exclusively local entertainment such as a magic show, singers, dancers, acrobats, a balloon artist, and much more.

Northern Vegans founding member Carrie Plummer says that this unique event is not only intended to be fun, but to show that it is possible to have great entertainment that doesn’t include the use of live animals.

“Free The Animals Spectacular Vegan Carnival our group Northern Vegans came up with,” said Plummer. “We’ve never done this before, and we’re not quite sure if this has ever been done before. We wanted to create a fun and entertaining experience for people where animals are not part of the picture and they’re not performing for us or entertaining us. And we wanted the food to be vegan of course.”

Plummer also says Free The Animals Spectacular Vegan Carnival is open to anyone. Whether you’re vegan or just interested in seeing what veganism is all about, the carnival will have something for everyone.

“If you’re vegan curious, vegetarian, even an omnivore and you’re just curious, please do come,” said Plummer. “We think that veganism can help change the world in a positive way.”

The carnival will have plenty of vegan pizza and vegan desserts for guests to enjoy in addition to the live entertainment and activities.
