UPPER PENINSULA — A different website has recognized the Upper Peninsula for being the safest places to live…next century?

The website FiveThirtyEight, which is normally famous for its political polling analysis, named the Upper Peninsula as one of the “Best places to move if you’re worried about climate change.”

The website’s Science and Health portion of the website tried to answer the question by looking at future climate projects and their impact on the country in the year 2100.

They say that according to studies and papers that have been published, places like Northern Minnesota, Seattle, Portland Oregon, and the Upper Peninsula could all end up with more moderate temperatures and weather patterns than what we currently have.

According to the website, the U.P. would avoid increased risks of sea level rise, drought, tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires and disease–carrying mosquitoes.
