Two dead in suspected murder-suicide
SAULT STE. MARIE — At 10:16 a.m. on Thursday, Sault Ste. Marie police officers were dispatched to 1011 Meridian on the report of shots fired and two people down.
Officers arrived to find an elderly couple, husband and wife, on the grass outside of the nursing care facility, where the wife was a resident. Both had succumbed to a single gunshot each in what appears at this time to be a homicide/suicide.
A handgun was recovered near the victims.
The incident is ongoing with the investigation being handled by the Sault Ste. Marie patrol officers and detectives. The names of the victims are being withheld until family is located and notified.
