Two shops open inside UPHS Marquette to benefit local organization

MARQUETTE — Two new shops are officially open inside the new U.P. Health Systems (UPHS) Marquette where a ribbon cutting was held on Monday morning.

‘Gift Well’ and ‘Coffee for a Cause’ will provide guests and employees a place to relax or do some shopping while also being able to help impact an organization in the community.

The Beacon House is affiliated with both shops and 100 percent of the proceeds will be used toward building the new Beacon House.

“We are so blessed as an organization that the Beacon House has been supported by the community that we serve here in Marquette as well as across the Upper Peninsula. When people come to the hospital and they know that this is one of the causes that we have, they immediately come in and want to spend a little bit extra money, perhaps, because they know where the money is going and they know what it’s going to support” said the CEO of the Hospitality House of the Upper Peninsula, Mary Tavernini–Dowling.

Once the Steve Mariucci Family Beacon House is built, some of the proceeds from the stores will be used toward the program and wig salon that helps cancer patients.

Both shops are located on the first floor near the main entrance of the hospital.
