ISHPEMING — A long–time favorite is officially back in the city of Ishpeming.

After being gone from the area for 20 years, the Gus Maker 3–on–3 Basketball Tournament makes its way to Hematite Street for the weekend.

The crew worked all day to make sure the courts and baskets were set up before the festivities began on Friday evening.

“Everybody’s been pretty positive about it, everybody’s excited, the money that it will bring the community and a good spotlight on Ishpeming. It’s just a lot of positive” said the Ishpeming Gus Maker Organizer, Jennifer Hendrickson.

Aside from the main event, the basketball tournament, there will be food trucks, vendors, music, and other activities for people to participate in.

Opening ceremonies begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 15th, with games, events and food arriving shortly after.

More information is available on their facebook page, Ishpeming Gus Maker. ABC 10’s Jon Michael Hoefling will have updates on the Tournament after the weekend.
