MARINETTE — On Monday, April 29th, the Marinette County Sheriff’s office was notified of a capsized boat in the Menominee River, where an adult male had been rescued, but the second occupant, Benjamin Tart, had went missing and was presumed submerged in the river.
On Wednesday, May 29th at 7:51 AM, the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office (Wisconsin) received a call of a deceased male being located by a fisherman in the Bay of Green Bay.
The description of the deceased male was consistent with the description of the missing boat occupant, and it was later confirmed to be Mr. Tart. The investigation is currently ongoing.
The Marinette and Oconto County Sheriff’s offices were assisted by the Wisconsin and Michigan DNR, Menominee Michigan Sheriff Marine Unit, along with several local police and fire departments.
