Ishpeming woman arrested for filing a false police report

MARQUETTE COUNTY — The Marquette County Prosecutors Office Authorized a Misdemeanor charge of Filing a False Police Report against 49-year-old Robin Denise Vandezande of Ishpeming.

Around 10:00 p.m., April 14, 2019, Vandezande reported the larency of $622.17 cash from her vehicle. Vandezande advised officers that she believed someone entered her vehicle when she was inside Elaine’s Party Store at 208 Vine Street in Ishpeming around 6:30 p.m., paying for gas. She stated the money was in a brown paper bag “stuffed” in her purse located on the floor in the rear of the vehicle. The money was a deposit from her business, Uptown Gifts.

Vandezande stated nothing else was taken and the purse had been moved.

Officers reviewed surveillance video from Elaine’s Party Store and observed no one had entered Vandezande’s vehicle. Vandezande then advised that she did stop by her business located at the Gossard Building and also went to the casino that night. Video surveillance was also reviewed from behind the Gossard and the casino and again, no one entered Vandezande’s vehicle. It was also determined that Vandezande was at the casino for a few hours earlier that day and for a length of time the day before.

Based on the investigation, the evidence did not support the allegations reported by Vandezande that the money had been stolen.

Vandezande was arrested and processed, then released on a Personal Recognize Bond.
