Woman arrested for fleeing police in stolen vehicle

MARQUETTE — On Sunday at approximately 10:18am, the Marquette Police Department attempted to stop a tan colored Ford Taurus, after it ran a stop sign at the corner of W. Bluff Street and Rublein Street. The vehicle continued north on N. McClellan Avenue and made a left on W. Ridge Street.  The vehicle then began to pick up speed. It was discovered at this time that the vehicle was reported stolen. The vehicle turned onto northbound Meeske Avenue after running the stop sign at that location and then ran the stop sign at Werner Street and Meeske Avenue before turning onto westbound Werner Street. The vehicle ran through numerous stop signs in Marquette Township, with speeds up to 45 MPH in the residential areas. The vehicle eventually stopped in the 4200 block of US-41 in Marquette Township.

Contact was then made with the driver, 34 year old Negaunee resident Jenny Donahue.  Donahue was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding, Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile and Suspended Driving 3rd Offense.  These charges and other possible charges are pending authorization from the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Marquette Police Department was assisted by Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff Department and Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post.
