Secretary of State and other places closed due to weather

MARQUETTE COUNTY — Due to the extreme winter weather, Secretary of State offices in the Upper Peninsula will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 30, and Thursday, Jan. 31.

The affected offices include those located in Bessemer, Escanaba, Houghton, Iron Mountain, Iron River, L’Anse, Manistique, Marquette, Menominee, Mohawk, Munising, Newberry, Ontonagon, St. Ignace and Sault Ste. Marie.

All appointments or hearings scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 30, or Thursday, Jan. 31, have been adjourned. Anyone who has appointments or hearings on Friday, Feb. 1, should check before heading out to those appointments. If offices are closed at the time of the appointment, the hearing will be adjourned to another date.

Customers who have MI-TIME Line appointments at the Marquette County PLUS office for Wednesday, Jan. 30, or Thursday, Jan. 31, will need to reschedule for a different day at Michigan.gov/MiTimeLine.

Most people renewing license plates, driver’s licenses and ID cards can do business online at ExpressSOS.com or by mail.

In some locations some downstate mail services have also been closed down.
