Fatal two car accident in Negaunee Township
MARQUETTE COUNTY — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post responded to a two-vehicle crash on US-41 near Brebner Rd in Negaunee Township.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2004 Toyota Avalon driven by an 81-year-old male from Sands Township was eastbound on US-41 and while attempting a left turn, the vehicle, drove into the path of a westbound 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck driven by a 57-year-old male from Champion Michigan.
A 78-year-old female passenger in the Toyota Avalon was killed in the traffic crash. Both drivers were transported to UP Health Systems Marquette for treatment.
The traffic crash is still under investigation. Names will be released upon notification of the families.
The Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by UP Health Systems Marquette EMS, UP Health Systems Bell EMS, Negaunee Township Fire Department, Marquette County Road Commission, Marquette County Rescue 131 and the Marquette County Sheriffs Office.
