Snowmobile versus car accident in Alger County
ALGER COUNTY — On Sunday, January 19th, the Alger County Sheriff’s office received a report of a snowmobile vs. car personal injury accident.
The accident occurred on H-58 approximately 2 miles east of Melstrand. The Alger County Sheriff’s Office as well as Alger County EMS responded
To the scene.
The investigation indicated that Mr. Travis Joe Ross, a 37-year-old male from Charlotte MI, was traveling eastbound on H-58 approximately 2 miles east of Melstrand at a high rate of speed.
Mr. Ross ultimately struck a snowmobile trailer that was being towed by a pickup truck also traveling eastbound on H-58. Mr. Ross was ejected from the snowmobile
And came to rest approximately 100’ from the point of impact. Mr. Ross was transported to UP Health Systems in Marquette where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Excessive speed and Careless operation of a snowmobile are the main contributing factors of the accident.
