CALUMET — On Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) executed a search warrant at a residence on Pine Street in the Village of Calumet.

The search warrant came as a result of a two-month long investigation into the illegal selling of prescription drugs and the attempted solicitation of sex for drugs.

During the search of the house, prescription drugs were recovered along with a small amount of cash related to the sale of illegal prescription drugs.

A pistol and two long guns were also seized from the residence.

The suspect is a 54-year-old male from Calumet.

He was lodged at the Houghton County Jail on charges related to the investigation.

The Houghton County Prosecutor’s office is reviewing the case and additional charges are pending.

UPSET was assisted by the Calumet Village Police Dept, Keweenaw County Sheriff K-9 unit, Houghton County Sheriff and Michigan State Police – Calumet Post.
