MARQUETTE — UPAWS’ 13th annual Strutt Your Mutt fundraiser is taking place this weekend, and it’s going to be a ‘dog-gone’ great time.

The charity walk for homeless pets will take place on Saturday, September 15th at 9am in Mattson Lower Harbor Park. Strutt Your Mutt is UPAWS’ biggest fundraising event of the year. Fundraisers like this are essential to the shelter, and the funds raised will go towards their general, day-to-day operations.

“To find these animals loving homes – the vet care, the food, everything that goes into it – the bottom line is, we will do anything possible to find these animals loving homes, but it doesn’t come cheap,” said UPAWS Community Outreach Coordinator, Ann Brownell. “Events like this with our wonderful community support are important.”

The more donations an individual raises, the more prizes will be offered. The public is able to pre-register their dog to enter a contest to become ‘leader of the pack’ during the walk. The annual costume contest will also take place. Everyone is invited to participate in the event, even if you don’t have a dog. You can walk in memory of a dog or pet, and if you don’t want to walk, there will be plenty of other activities.

All of the registration information is available online at UPAWS.org.
