MARQUETTE — If you are looking for some volunteer work, the American Cancer Society in Marquette is one place to go.

Volunteers are always needed for the American Cancer Society since they are a volunteer–based company.

Currently, there is only one person volunteering at the Marquette location, so they are not able to help cancer patients as often as they would like.

“Both of my parents died of cancer so it’s something near and dear to my heart” said Volunteer Coordinator, Claire Young. “I used to be involved with Relay for Life for 20 years and I have been doing this for 8 [years]. It’s just something that I feel people need to know what is available to them.”

Volunteers are needed to try to help newly diagnosed cancer patients.

To get qualified, volunteers must take a training online through the American Cancer Society.

For more information about volunteering, you can call Claire at (906) 225-3507 or the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345.
