ISHPEMING — The first of three mobile food pantries was in Ishpeming on Thursday morning at Ishpeming VFW.

MBank recently announced their $9,500 pledge to underwrite three mobile food pantry distributions in the Upper Peninsula this summer.

The contribution was made to Feeding America West Michigan, which provides food to 160 local hunger–relief organizations.

“We pride our self on being community focused and we really do everything that we can to be in the community and be involved in the community and help in any way that we can, so this is an opportunity to give back” said mBank district manager for U.P. Branches, Tia Rodda.  “You don’t always see that there’s a need right here in your hometown.”

The Ishpeming distribution was expected to feed up to 300 families.

There are still two more mobile food pantry distributions; one in Manistique on August 29 at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and one in Sault Ste. Marie on September 20 at Big Bear.
