Cross Country and Track and Field host NMU Catch the Cat 5K August 17

MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University Cross Country and Track and Field teams will be hosting the NMU Catch the Cat 5K as part of the Marquette Trail 50 Ultramarathon.

This will be the first year of the 5K and is open to all ages. The race begins at 6 p.m. on August 17.  The registration fee is $35 with all monies going to the NMU Cross Country and Track and Field teams.

The race starts and finishes at the NTN Forestville Trailhead.  It combines scenic runnable trails (NTN singletrack) and more technical terrain with roots and rocks (North Country Trail) and features many short ascents and descents. Also note that the last section of the course is mostly uphill as runners make their way back to the Forestville Trailhead.

NMU Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female runners. Awards will also be given to kids finishing in the top three of each age group.
