HOUGHTON CO. — The United States Department of Agriculture donated $14 million to nine different infrastructure projects throughout the state to upgrade water systems.

$900,000 of that will go to The North Houghton County Water and Sewage Authority. The authority provides sewer service for Calumet Township, Osceola Township, the Village of Calumet, and the Village of Laurium.This project serves 2,555 residential and 204 commercial customers.

The project is a small aspect of the entire donation — $267 million was donated overall to 103 projects nationwide.
