Salvation Army in need of food donations

MARQUETTE — The Salvation Army has about 150 families come through every month.

The Salvation Army is in critical need of food items.

During the summer The Salvation Army sees an influx in food needs with kids being out of school and not getting their proper nutrition from their school meals.

This can delay kid’s physical and brain development.

“Kids that are hungry, their brain development really goes down. They don’t have the energy that they need to be able to play and grow and learn. Some of these families if we weren’t here, they wouldn’t have any food for the month. It’s really important for them to have nutrition, throughout the year,” said Jamie Ray, Case Manager for the Salvation Army.

The Salvation army accepts perishable and non perishable items.

They are also accepting monetary donations.
