SANDS TOWNSHIP — On July 9th, 2018, Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) detectives and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a joint investigation that led to the execution of search warrants in Marquette County.

The first warrant occured at a residence in Sands Township, and the second was in Ishpeming Township. During the search warrants, detectives seized approximately eight ounces of crystal meth, twenty grams of heroin, as well as other illicit drugs. The street value of the drugs was estimated to be over $25,000.

The suspect, a 33-year-old Ishpeming Township man, was arrested in Sands Township without incident and lodged at the Marquette County Jail on felony charges related to the distribution of crystal meth and heroin. The name of the suspect is not being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
