Man stabbed, arrested on domestic assault charges

VULCAN — On Friday, July 6th at 1:57 P.M., Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post responded to a 911 call of a male subject having been shot. While en route to the residence, officers were advised that the subject has been stabbed, not shot. The male subject fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.

An MSP K-9 unit assisted with searching the area, and located the subject hiding under the stairs of Norway Township Hall. EMS arrived on scene and the subject was transported to Dickinson County Hospital.

Investigation revealed that a domestic assault had occured hours earlier between the subject and his wife. The male party then left the residence for a few hours. Upon returning to the residence, an altercation between the male subject and his juvenile sone occured over a set of keys. The male subject received several stab wounds at that time.

After being treated and released by Dickinson County Hospital, the male subject was arrested for domestic assault. He was then lodged at Dickinson County Jail. The juvenile subject was taken into custody on a Juvenile petition authorized by the Dickinson County Probate Judge, and was transported and lodged at the Sault Tribe detention facility in St. Ignace.
