The Alzheimer’s Association held an event today at the Vierling Restaurant

MARQUETTE — The Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Michigan Chapter held an event on Thursday at The Vierling Restaurant & Marquette Harbor Brewery in Marquette.

The event was to help get people registered for the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” at the end of the summer. This also allowed teams to get together and learn about the events leading up to the walk.

It can be difficult when helping loved ones through this disease, but this organization has opportunities for all who are affected.

“It’s not easy for people to talk about Alzheimer’s disease and how it affects them on an individual or family basis,” said, Regional Director of the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Michigan Chapter, Jake Bilodeau. “So we have a lot of programs spread out throughout the U.P. to kind of make contact and connect with folks. But this is an opportunity for people within our community and our region to see that there are people that want to continue to push our cause forward and to create a lot of awareness.”

The “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” will be happening September 8th at the Jacobetti in Marquette.
