MARQUETTE — The Department of Natural Resources is allowing locals and out-of-state visitors the ability to have free entry of all state parks and trails. Even though the fees and passes are all waived for the weekend, you still need to respect the regulations of the DNR.

The DNR is waiving the recreation pass fees so everyone can go and enjoy the outdoors and experience some of the other outdoor activities such as fishing and off-road vehicle driving. You can also just enjoy the beach and lakes that around the state. Some spots that usually require the recreation pass are even located in Marquette County.

“But also other areas like Little Presque Isle, where some trails where the recreational pass is needed for entry into that area,” said, Deputy Public Information Officer, John Pepin. “This weekend is a chance to get people to come out and be introduced to state parks.”

The DNR has nicknamed this weekend as the “Free Three Weekend” due to the three different passes that are being waived June 9th and 10th. For more information on the weekend or the recreation pass, click here.
