MARQUETTE — An artist reception was held Thursday night, at the Marquette Downtown Development Authority’s offices, as the next Blueberry Festival poster design winner was announced.
This year, there were 19 entries, each having its very own style and medium. Voting took place in person and online until May 25th, and the winning design was selected through a combined score based on submitted votes and a panel of judges comprised of local artists, downtown business owners, and public officials. The poster will also be on sale.
“We will make about one hundred or so copies of that [poster] and it will be available at Blueberry Festival and we’ll have it available at a few different stores downtown, as well,” said Promotions and Events Coordinator, Tara Laase-McKinney.
The winning design was ‘Larry’s Chippy,’ by Taryn Okesson, and she’ll receive gift certificates from downtown businesses and 10 high quality prints of the poster.
