Two Houghton County residents arrested following UPSET investigation

HOUGHTON — Two Houghton County residents were arrested Wednesday following an investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.

UPSET detectives arrested a 53 year-old Hancock man and a 28 year-old Houghton man on three-count arrest warrants. Their arrests were authorized following warranted searches of four residences on April 5th.

The search warrants resulted in the seizure of over 100 lb.s of processed marijuana, along with 45 marijuana plants. The charges include delivery/manufacture of 45 kgs. or more of marijuana, a 15-year felony; delivery of marijuana, a 4-year felony; and maintaining a drug house, a 2-year misdemeanor.

The 53 year-old was arrested, posted bond and was released. The 28 year-old was arrested and lodged at the Houghton County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond. Their names are being withheld pending their arraignment in 97th District Court.
