MARQUETTE — As tourism season in the Marquette area hits its peak this summer, local artists will have a chance to showcase their work to the many people who spend time in the area.

Beginning Friday, June 1st, Travel Marquette will be hosting an “Artventure.”

Local Blacksmith Gordon E. Gearhart III will have his art shown until the end of July; a retrospective forging of steel, representative of Marquette’s industrial past and present. The new exhibition will feature many local artists and bring out the adventurous side of the artwork dedicated to the Queen City.

“That’s something that we definitely want to feature moving forward here at travel Marquette,” said travel Marquette Executive Director Susan Estler. “There’s an exceptional amount of creativity and artistry within Marquette, and we wanted to take the opportunity, since we have this beautiful center, to have artwork in here and feature different artists from around the area.”

Some of the Travel Marquette staff will be showing their art off during Art Week, June 24th-30th, in Marquette.

All artists are welcome to apply to have their art shown at the center.
