KINGSFORD — Responding agencies are going to destroy potentially explosive items discovered by a Kingsford resident on Friday morning.
At approximately 10:00 a.m., Kingsford Public Safety was contacted by a home owner on the 100 block of Balsam Street. The caller told authorities they had found “blasting caps” in a home that they had recently purchased, and were cleaning out.
The home owners were told to not touch or disturb the blasting caps and to leave the residence.
Kingsford Public Safety contacted the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad, who removed the items from the house upon arrival. The items were to be destroyed in a controlled blast.
Officials would like to remind anyone that if they come in contact with suspicious items that they believe to be explosive, leave the items alone and call 911.
