Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council putting new twist on annual awards show

NEGAUNEE — The Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council is celebrating the completion of another year, and this year, they’re looking to shake things up.

Instead of their normal annual awards show, the PAAC is putting on the West End Spotlight show. This show will recognize volunteers and sponsors in the community that support the arts, in addition to recapping the past season.

Jeff Jennings, a local favorite, and students from Negaunee High School will perform songs from the different productions the theater has put on the past year. All proceeds will be used to fund PAAC events, and to aid in the restoration of the Historic Vista Theater.

“The most important thing right now is the roof. On top of that, we have some plumbing issues right now, as if you come to the show tomorrow night, you’ll find out. Our marquee has just been destroyed, and hopefully that gets fixed this summer, and we’ve got a lot of things on our plates right now, but we’re hopefully going to knock them out one by one,” said Eliisa Gladwell, PAAC secretary.

The show will be held Friday, May 4th at 7:00 p.m. at the Historic Vista Theater in Negaunee. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
