Ed McBroom celebrates National Reading Month with students

GWINN — Gilbert Elementary School welcomed a special guest in honor of National Reading Month.

Former State Representative for the 108th District Ed McBroom read to first through fifth grade students this morning. McBroom brought with a book called “Johnny Tractor and His Pals,” a favorite of both him and his children.

He made different voices for each of the characters because he said it makes reading more entertaining.

“I just love books, I love stories, I love the learning that can come from books and I really enjoy sharing that love with kids,” said McBroom. “I hope that sharing that excitement about reading with the kids and telling them about how many different types of books there are can help even the ones that are a little reluctant right now to read grow to have a passion for reading.”

During his visits, McBroom also shared details about his life as a dairy farmer and talked about local government.

McBroom also read to students at KI Sawyer Elementary School.
